Boudoir

Nestled on the corner of Westgate Street, Boudoir is endeavouring to break
out of the RnB mould that was left by its former occupants, La Tantra. Both
the upstairs bar and basement club have been given severe overhauls, with the
former reminiscent of a dimly lit Mediterranean bar. The lights maybe turned
down low, but the style is kept vibrant by sangria red walls, silk cushions
and glistening chandeliers dangling from all angles. There’s a decent
selection of bottled beers and the varied wine list should keep your lady or
androgynous mates happy enough. The cross-section of punters can make for a
fascinating watch with hen parties that have descended from the valleys mixing
with some of the capital’s hoi polloi. The RnB contingent haven’t
been totally disregarded with DJs Raheem & Jasper showcasing their L8TEX
night every Saturday until the early hours of Sunday morning. Although Boudoir
has some way to go before they can match their rivals on the golden strip of
Greyfriars Road, it’s certainly making decent headway and slowly eradicating
the RnB reputation that has embraced the premises for far too long.
