Spa Performer
Set in brooding marshland just beyond the village of Laugharne where Dylan Thomas famously wrote Under Milk Wood, Hurst House On The Marsh is a luxe 18-suite hotel converted from a 16th century dairy that is a relaxing retreat from the rigours of the real world. Apart from the stunning surroundings and can’t-do-enough-for-you service, there’s also an impressive spa to ensure any lingering stresses and strains are given the boot. Developed in conjunction with high-end brand Elemental Herbology, it combines holistic treatments, from pampering massages to tailor-made three-day full body MOT programmes, along with all the usual roster of grooming rebooters. There’s also a pool, spa bath and gym if you fancy something a little more energetic. And, if you’ve got enough dosh, you can always take to the skies to get there as the hotel has its very own helipad.

Making Up Is Hard To Do
Right, where do we stand on men wearing make-up? I embrace the whole metrosexual shtick (after all, that’s my job), but lipsticking it up seems a step towards castration too far. That was until a mate who’s as butch as they come – he’s a bouncer, so go figure – told me he partakes of the old warpaint on occasion. And he’s not the only one making-up because high street giant Superdrug recently added ‘guyliner’ and ‘manscara’ to its stock. You don’t have to go the full Russell Brand, though. Start with Jean Paul Gaultier’s concealer (8g, £29) and bronzer (15ml, £18) from his Monsieur range. The former camouflages blemishes and the latter gifts a bit of colour to your chops. And, don’t panic, neither will leave you looking like you’re on the waiting list for a sex change.
