TVonic Boom!
The TVonics DTR-HV250, designed and manufactured in Bridgend, is the company’s latest high-end Freeview+ unit. What makes this special is not just the pause and rewind functions, nor the 125hrs of recording time, or even the compact size of this cool looking piece of kit. When you connect this to an HD ready television it upscales the standard TV broadcast to higher definition viewing, getting more out of your flat-screen TV and resulting in sharper and clearer images. For those of us whose TVs only have one HDMI port in the back, the DTR-HV250 also features an HDMI switch that allows you to connect up to two other HDMI devices to the unit and switch between them without having to unplug or plug-in any cables. The two USB ports also allow you to flick through countless jpegs of holiday snaps or pics of mindless pub-activity.

EeeSy PC
The ASUS EeePc T91 is one of the first netbooks to incorporate a touch-screen to its tablet-style pivoting monitor. Using a stylus to administer the ‘touch’ for a touch-screen can be cumbersome, weighty and ungainly when using with mobiles, but here its presence is appreciated, though using one’s own chubby digits to mangle some response out of the computer seems to work equally well. With a reasonable price tag for such a high-spec system, and impressively compact and light even by netbook standards, this is a thoroughly wise investment for those wanting the best in the field with added funkiness to boot.

The Drive Of Your Life
It’s pretty hard to imagine anything more boring or as dry to talk about, discuss and (perish the thought) review than a DVD drive. Which is why the ASUS SDRW-08D1S-U DVD Drive really excited me when it was delivered to RH Towers one uneventful winter morning. It’s almost as if somebody at ASUS had woken up one morning needing a life affirming challenge; and came up with a pretty good one if his mission was to create a top of the range external DVD drive, that looks damn sexy to boot! With DVD-less netbooks in mind (though you can use it for any desktop or laptop) it handily connects to the computer via USB cabling. It also comes with a cool stand to complete the bewildering image of that rather unique concept: the funky external DVD drive.
