<<<BACK When I interviewed them this summer I was struck by how Gwenno and pals Rosay and RiotBecki were set on world domination and nothing less. Their album We Are The Pipettes released in July is unabashed pop, with a Phil Spectre spin - shimmering organ riffs and girlie harmonies. The sort of stuff your kid sister will mime to all Christmas long if you’re mad enough to buy it for her. I played a couple of tracks in the office this summer and we were humming Pull Shapes for days. It drove us mad. Much depends on their label - Memphis Industries - putting some proper cash behind marketing. The product is there, the girls are effervescent, smart and sexy and there’s nothing quite like them in chartland. I hope 2007 is the year the whole world gets sick of the Pipettes.
