Positively Blue-Ming

Sam Warburton, Cardiff Blues

What a difference a year makes. This time last year the Cardiff Blues were languishing low to mid table, despite a team that on paper, should have been doing rather well. Attendances were poor and spirits were low.

This season couldn’t be more different. With a couple of wobbles excepted, performance on the pitch has been transformed and it’s clear players, staff and fans are all on a high. Danny Wilson has to claim much of the credit for this as the team remains largely unchanged. Whilst the big names like Sam Warburton Gareth Anscombe and Gethin Jenkins have performed well he’s managed to get the best out of the whole squad and hasn’t been afraid to shuffle his cards if the need arise through poor form or tactical necessity.

Anecdotally at RedHanded towers we’ve clocked the number of invitations we get to attend matches from friends and clients has rocketed. This enthusiasm is no more so than at the BT Sport (Cardiff Arms Park) which has become something of a fortress, as record attendances means fans fill the stands with lively vocal support, roaring on the Blues and unsettling opponents.

And moving into a crucial part of the season, with fixtures against Ulster, Bath and the Gwent Dragons coming up, it’s vital that fans continue to play their part by attending games in huge numbers and making their voices heard.
